About Roger Rossi

I have always been drawn to the beauty of public gardens, magnificent castles and estates, and even someone’s personal garden endeavors. My greatest exposure has been touring the European continent and the English countryside. I have also established artwork highlighting the gardens of New York.

I choose garden settings with a strong prescence of colorful flowers. I like to stroll through the well planted beds when the sun is at its brightest to capture the strong contrasts of light and shadow.

When I bring the inspirations back to my studio, I try to employ the essence of where I have been and what I observed. Composition, values, and temperatures are important to me. I make changes through sketches and photographs as I remember the day I visited the image. I strive to make the viewer believe that they become a part of the painting as if they were actually there.

I have been an artist most of my life. Even though my business career has been in the menswear industry. I studied with John A. Parks and Nancy Chunn at the School of Visual Arts. I am a member of the Art Committee and Vice-Chairman of the Auction Committee at the prestigeous Salmagundi Art Club. I am also a director to the board of the American Artists Professional League. I am also a member of Allied Artists of America and Oil Painters of America. I exhibit regularly with these organizations and win awards for my entries.
